The Box

A few weeks ago, I read the synopsis of the strange movie called The Box. When I found it at redbox, I went for it. This movie was very well done for a low budget film. The story was mind blowing. Cameron Diaz, James Marsden and Frank Landella, the stars of this film, do an excellent job of truly getting into character. This science fiction, mystery thriller had me captivated the whole movie. I really think you'll enjoy this movie.

Favorite line:

"So why a box?"
"Your home is a box. Your car is a box on wheels. You drive to work in it and you drive home in it. You sit at home staring at a box. It erodes your soul while the box that is your body inevitably withers then dies whereupon it is placed in the ultimate box to slowly decompose."

Some good cheese

The other night I stumbled across a film that must have slipped by me back when it came out. I Spy, starring Eddie Murphy, Owen Wilson, and the beautiful Famke Janssen is a cheesy action comedy that kept me entertained as I relaxed after a long day at work. It was really refreshing to see Eddie in a movie where he's not in a fat suit, talking to animals, or the voice behind one. This film reminds me of some of his earlier works which I grew up with. Anyway, if you can handle a little cheesiness, I think you'll truly enjoy this movie.

My favorite part of the movie:
Eddie: "Put the gun down. Put it down right now."
Famke: "Ok, putting it down. But I'm on your side. I'm with BNS."
Eddie: "Yeah! What does BNS stand for with you? Bitch that need some slappin'?"

Let's finish this... the lost blogs

In the spirit of starting anew, I feel it's only right to share the blogs I started, but never finished. Here they are:

The Twitter Ripple... (9/2/2009)
So, three months ago, me and some of my friend decided to jump on Twitter to test it out. Some of of enjoyed it and caught on well, while others struggled keeping up or staying interested. The biggest thing for us was having the ability to plan nights out through tweets because we'd all get the message.

Since then, I decided to venture off and find some new people. I've found some wonderful people all over the world! It's amazing how different people lives are compared to the one I live. In many was, it's refreshing to hear about others lives, problems, joys, misfortunes, travels etc.

Recently, I've had the pleasure of helping some of my tweeps out with their various problems and issues. This interaction not only helps them, but it helps me as well. Another thing that has been cool is audio and video chatting with some of my tweeps.

Hmmm.... (9/15/2009)
So this weekend was interesting. I received a couple txt messages for the ex that made me revert back to being lonely and slightly depressed. Even though the conversation wasn't a bad one, it wasn't something I needed either. It's interesting how a simple conversation with her will make me unravel, yet it does nothing to her. I think that pisses me off more than the fact that she txted me trying to figure out what's going on in my life. Oh well. No worries. Life goes on.

I've once again started looking for a new start and this time there is nothing holding me back. There's nothing keeping me here in GA.... well there is one person but, I'm not sure where that's going. My list of places has always changed from time to time. Here is my list: Charlotte NC, Orlando FL, Mountain View CA, (maybe) Sioux Falls SD

Just when you've given up.... (11/29/2009)
My life, nothing spectacular, has revolved around my moods swings for the last 9 years like a drill sargent yelling and screaming in your face during boot camp.

My thoughts.... (1/28/2010)
In my world there are two things that are for certain; I'm going to be up, and I'm going to be down. Every rarely am I ever in between these two extremes. When I'm up, I'm at the top of the world; nothing seems to bother me. I'm at the top of my game, driven, inspired, and I seem to have this aura about me that everyone wants to be around. When I'm down, I feel worthless and alone. I feel as though I'm not good enough for anyone or anything, or like the world would be a better place if I were no longer around. So as I'm sitting here watching the movie Kung Fu Hustle and I can help but compare this one scene to my life. As a group of Axe gang members make their entrance into the small town, a dark cloud follows them and is cast over the entire town.... this is so like my life. I'll be sitting, comfortably in my own little world when something comes in it and makes it all gloomy. Some dark, unwanted force coming into my life without reason....Well just like in the movie, I fight back. I fight hard for my happiness, for my peace of mind, for my joy. Is it easy? No. Do I feel like giving up sometimes? Yes. Well... what keeps you going?

GOALS, HOPES & DREAMS

That's what it's all about. Those three things keep my fight for something better, something bigger and bight, for a better life, for a better me.

Last year I pulled myself up from what seemed to be the pit of hell, but I still feel like I need to do more. In December, I took an inventory of my life, my goals and my dreams to come put with a plan to move forward with my life and be happy. Here's how things looked:

1 Self-image: hate it hate it hate it... so I joined the gym. I started going to the gym December 4 and I'm starting to feel good about myself and the way I look for the first time in many... many years. It has also made me feel better physically, boosted my confidence and has completely alter my life.

2 Where I'm at: this encompasses what I'm going with my life and where I'm going. So I haven't been completely happy with the hand I was dealt when it comes to this area. I'm extremely hard on myself but I had to stop and think... what am I doing to make it better. So I made some changes. I first thing I've set out to do is to get Mac Certified and have been making steps towards it. Another was moving out of GA. I've looked into the possibility of doing a couple things: moving to a different state looking for a techy job, or moving out of the country and teaching English

Oh Snap!

I'm so excited!! I came home the other day and my wonderful girlfriend bought me some new film for my Minolta. It's Kodak's BW400CN, a 35mm black & white film. I'll start shooting sometime this weekend. I can't wait! I also have 2 rolls of film that I need to get developed and posted online... stay tuned :D

My first two rolls

So after shooting a roll with my 50mm lens and another with my 70mm - 210mm zoom lens, these are collages of my photos...

So what do you think??? Leave comments!

Demonic???

Want to see a twisted story about demons trying to cross over to the other side?? Released in 2005, Constantine, a film based of the comic book Hellblazer, delivers just that. This dark and twisted movie kept me wanting to know how it all ends from the very start of the film; and I don't think it disappointed. This is one of the few films I can watch no matter what I'm in the mood to watch. The all start cast featuring Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, Shia LaBeouf, Tilda Sweinto (loves her) and Djimon Hounsou (loves him) come together and deliver one awesome performance. If you haven't seen it yet, add it to your must see list.

Another new start

For a while now, I have wanted to get back into blogging, but nothing was pushing me to do so. Now there is! I've started two new blogs; one for my passion of film, and one for my new hobby, photography.

My movie blog (found here) is going to be a place where I will share my views of different films, recommend various films to see and take suggestions on films to see. I'm really excited to see how this blog turns out. So head on over and see some of my movie recommendations I've posted thus far.

My photo blog (found here) is inspired by my new interests in photography. Journey with me as I explore my world through the lens of my SLR.

I will start back blogging about my life and it's ups and downs on this blog. There's a lot to catch you up on. So stay tuned.

You have a what???

1981 Minolta XG-M 35mm film camera! That's right, this camera is older than I am. Now that I know that it works and know more about the camera, I decided to buy two more lenses for it. I have a total of three lenses:

  • Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm 1: 1.7
  • Minolta MD Minolta Celtic 28mm 1 :2.8
  • Minolta MD Zoom 70 - 210mm 1:4

My Minolta XG-M with MD Zoom 70 - 210mm 1:4 lense

So it begins...

About a month ago, my interests in photography were sparked again and I started looking into getting a camera. Of course I didn't have the means ($$$) to by a new camera but I looked anyway. After much looking, I decided on getting the Fuji FinePix S1800. It is a really good camera that takes amazing photos. It's a step down from a dSLR, which I knew would be too much for me. So I devised a plan to save up money and buy it... but then I remembered...

A couple years back, my mom bought a camera from the classifieds and didn't know how to use it. I couldn't help her out with the camera because it was super old and not digital. She packed it up somewhere and never pulled it out again. So I called her up at worked and asked her if she still knew where it was. Long story short, I found the camera in a Ziploc freezer bag tucked away in a drawer...

Now I've this old camera that I know nothing about or even that it worked. After much research, and some batteries, I got the camera to work... or so I thought. Since the camera isn't digital, I had to buy film, shoot the whole roll, and get it developed...

Well here's one of the first shots I took:
